About
Giselle E. Whitwell
Music Therapist | Pioneer in Prenatal Music | Mentor to Pregnant Mothers, Couples, Doulas and Midwives
For over 35 years, Giselle E. Whitwell has been recognized as a pioneer in the field of prenatal music and conscious birthing. Her writings and publications have introduced pregnant couples and birth professionals to the profound impact of sound, voice, and music on prenatal development and parental bonding.
From Effect of Music:
“The baby before birth is a hearing, feeling, and sensing being. Music helps establish an emotional connection between parents and child long before birth.”

Giselle has been guiding and empowering women, couples and families during their pregnancy and birth experience in many different settings: home, birthing centers and hospitals. The sessions have included a variety of artistic experiences other than music such as clay work, mandala drawing, water color, belly dancing, in addition to nutrition and childbirth education classes.
She has expanded her mission to mentor and guide doulas and midwives who want to bring the healing, soothing, and transformative effects of music into their work with families. Her mentoring is grounded in both practice and artistry: weaving together music, therapeutic singing and movement to support a holistic prenatal journey.
All consultations are offered in English and Spanish.
Bio: Following more than two decades as a music educator, Giselle E. Whitwell was certified as a Board Certified Music Therapist focusing her attention on the prenatal period of life. She also was certified as a prenatal parenting educator, doula and childbirth educator. Giselle is one of the few Therapeutic Singing Therapists in the USA, a schooling that is based on the Werbeck singing training from “The School of Uncovering the Voice.” During the last thirty five years, she has given lectures and workshops on prenatal music in the United States, South America, Europe, Russia, and Asia. She continues her work at the Centre for Prenatal and Perinatal Music.
In her free time she enjoys gardening, painting and going on hikes; she writes poetry and also composes songs and instrumental music.
